The coalescence guitar represents a merging of vintage styling with modern features, such as active pickups, an all access neck joint, and 24 frets.
Aimed at the modern rock/metal guitarist it features a single coil EMG SA at the neck combined with an EMG 89 at the bridge. The 89 was chosen as it can be split, giving the option of having two single coils (via the push/pull pot) as the original J guitars were.
The neck is laminated for improved strength and stability – it is a 5-piece construction of Black Limbs and Maple which creates a lovely harmony with the solid Black Limbs body. The fretboard is an old favourite of mine – Brazilian Kingwood with 24 frets for extended range. An all access neck joint ensures every fret is within easy reaching not obstructed by the more typical blocky looking affair.
The hardware is by Gotoh in black to complete the guitar’s imposing aesthetic.
